All the below information, and more, is available at the Lake County Solid Waste web pages.

Trash

  • Trash & recycling pick-up is on Thursday mornings every week. The day may change during a week due to holidays. Please check the main web page or follow our web page to be alerted when this happens.
  • Solid waste must be placed within one of the County issued garbage cans and put out no later than 6 a.m. on our designated pick-up day. No excess garbage outside of the County issued garbage cart will be collected. See further down for pick-up of bulk items. Garbage left outside the can will NOT be picked up.
  • The can with a tan lid is for trash. The can with a green lid is for recycling materials.
  • Please keep the lids closed once placed
  • Place your cans with the handle & wheels facing your home and at least 4 feet apart to allow the mechanical arm enough room to pick each one up and empty it. Most residents place a can at each end of their driveway.
  • For a replacement trash can, or to get a different size, please call the Lake County Landfill Facility at 352-343-3776. Please note, there may be a fee for replacement or size change.

Recycling

  • Recycling collection follows the same rules as garbage collection and is on the same day
  • The can with the green lid is for recycling
  • Cardboard boxes [which can be recycled] must be in your recycling can. The waste service will not pick-up anything left next to your can. You will need to break boxes down and cut them up so they fit inside. NOTE: this rule is usually overlooked on the pick-up day after Christmas because of the amount of cardboard left out.
  • A list of what you can and cannot recycle can be found HERE
  • Please keep the lids closed once placed

  • Limbs and branches must be no longer than 4 feet in length with limbs no greater than 6 inches in diameter
